Our humble beginnings

Knowledge management is a concept that has gained lots of interest from both the academia and corporate practitioners. The emergence of knowledge-based economies has placed knowledge management as critical ingredient in the organisations seeking to enhance and improve its service delivery. Many organisations have since adopted knowledge management as a tool for saving on operational cost, and driving performance and growth. Thus knowledge management has been recognised as a critical management tool in modern organisations. Its adoption as a management strategy will certainly promote a knowledge-driven organisational culture of learning and Innovation thereby enabling organisations gain competitive advantages. Knowledge management Society of Kenya is a voluntary association established in line with the Section 36 of the Constitution of Kenya (2010). The Society of Kenya was established in 2018 and formally registered under the Societies Act (Cap. 108) Section 10 by the Registrar of Societies as a professional body in 2021 with the aim of nurturing the advancement and institutionalisation of knowledge management practice and profession in Kenya.

  1. To represent the interests of knowledge management practitioners in Kenya.
  2. To facilitate continuing profession development (CPD) through various publications, seminars and scientific conferences.
  3. To liaise with both the National & County governments to advise, formulate and enact policies that will enable effective and efficient management of knowledge flows.
